Fish and swim in summer, ski in winter, get away for relaxation any time in a lovely cottage in one of the most scenic parts of Vermont. This is a large, house-size cottage with all the amenities of home, including a full kitchen, washer and dryer for clothes, satellite TV and WiFi Internet access. Fully furnished, including sheets and towels, dishes, cookware, even a modest amount of food in the fridge for breakfasts so you won't have to pack a lot of stuff or shop for supplies on arrival.
There are many extras. An outdoor hot tub is kept operational year-round for your use. The lake frontage has a picnic table and firepit. The owner furnishes a canoe, rowboat, kayak, and paddleboat for your use. An enclosed porch has a wood-burning fireplace to keep it cozy on cool nights. A large yard includes children's playground equipment. For winter guests, we offer discount passes to world-class skiing at nearby Smugglers Notch.

Additional Information About Rental Rates:
Reservations secured by a minimum deposit of $100 for up to a week. If more than a week, $100 per week or partial. Balance is due by the scheduled date of arrival. Please do not make a reservation until you are quite sure of travel plans, as once you have reserved, we turn away many others who inquire about that time period.
This is a pet-friendly cottage. However, owners must take full responsibility for their pets. If your dog barks and howls all day while you are out and about, that will be a problem, because the neighbors will complain. Needless to say, guests must take full responsibility for any damage caused by pets. That said, a majority of our guests do bring guests, and we have almost never experienced problems.

The cottage is on Metcalf Pond, a small, scenic lake in a part of Vermont known for its rural scenery. The lake is shallow, safe for swimming by young children with adult supervsion. Smugglers Notch ski area is a short 13-mile drive--in exchange for that drive, you get a great place to stay at a small fraction of the rates you would pay for lodging right at the slopes.
For most of the year, the area is very quiet and peaceful. On hot summer days, the area becomes lively in a resort-kind-of-way, with the squeals of children swimming in an adjacent public access and entertaining by nearby cottage residents.
Other than the lake and the ski area, the immediate area has mostly rural attractions, such as horseback riding at a nearby stable, a corn maze, and a winery that offers tours and tastings. It's a pretty area for those who like scenic walks and drives. However, Burlington--Vermont's largest city (albeit not large by other standards) is a college-town with many cultural attractions, only 35 miles away. Montreal is close enough for a very pleasant day-trip. Many of our guests use the cottage as a home base for daily drives for attractions throughout the area, such as Ben & Jerry's, the Shelburne Museum, and hikes on the Long Trail.
