Description of the Jeffersonville vacation Cottage Rental 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathrooms, 6 Sleeps

This is a cottage on Metcalf Pond, a small lake in Fletcher, Vermont (postal address Jeffersonvile), one of themost scenic parts of the state. The cottage is of rustic design and decor but comes with the comforts of home. It has a full kitchen, including dishwasher, and laundry facilities (washer and dryer) in a separate shed in back. We supply four small boats which are shared between this cottage and another cottage we own next door--a rowboat, canoe, paddleboat, and kayak. (Each cottage has a separate small dock.) The cottage has a deck with a charcoal grill. Also, the lake frontage has a picnic table, fire pit, and lawn chairs in addition to the small docks.

Reservations

Reservations secured by minimum deposit of $100 for up to a week, or additional $100 for additional week or partial week. Balance due by the scheduled date of arrival. Please do not reserve until you are quite sure of your travel plans--as cancellations and rescheduling are difficult in our situtaion.

Pets

Pet-friendly, but you must take responsibility for your pet. Do not leave a pet inside if it will bark all day while you are out, disturbing the neighbors. You must take responsibility for any damage caused. That said, a great many guests bring their pets and have almost never had problems with them.

• The upstairs bathroom has just a toilet and sink. It is a very small room, but convenient to the bedrooms. The downstairs bathroom is full size, although there is a shower with no tub.

• Second floor, where bedrooms are, has very low ceilings. Master bedroom is not large, but attractive as it overlooks a terrific view of the lake. The other bedroom is a dormer-style room with three double beds. This cottage can provide sleeping space for about 8 people, but of course the capacity is fewer if people need privacy and elbow-room.

Notes to the Accommodation and Amenities :Note that stairs to upstairs bedrooms are fairly steep, and the upstairs ceiling is low enough that stooping is needed in areas. While we have many elderly guests, this should be considered if members of the family would have difficulty with this set-up. The cottage is not, unfortunately, accessible with wheelchair.

Notes to the Attraction :Nice rural area with rural activities--but a reasonable drive to cultural activities in the Burlington area or,a bit farther, Montreal.

Location of Jeffersonville Vacation Rental Cottage

Area Information :

This is in the scenic area near Smugglers Notch, which is best known for skiing but rapidly becoming a four-season resort area. The lake is very small and shallow, but good for swimming and fishing. Most activitiesin the immediate area are rural in nature--horseback riding at a neaby stable, a corn maze, a winery that offers tours and tastings. But it's a relatively short drive to the Burlington area (about 35 miles) which has a wide range of restaurants, shopping, and cultural activities. Montreal is close enough for a pleasant day trip. Many guests use the cottage a home base to visiting a great many attractions that are in a reasonablle drive, such as Ben & Jerry's, the Shelburne Museum, etc. The area is quite quiet most of the year but on hot summer days livens up with the resort-type sounds of squealing children swimming at the adjacent public access and nearby cottage owners entertaining their guests.
